What the meta tag checker inspects

This checker fetches the public page and reviews the HTML it returns. It reports the title and meta description, canonical link, robots meta directives and X-Robots-Tag response header, language, hreflang links, viewport, common Open Graph tags and JSON-LD types. It follows redirects and checks the final HTML page.

How to check a page

  1. Enter the page’s complete public URL.
  2. Select Check page tags.
  3. Review the indexability summary and tag-by-tag results. Fix missing or conflicting tags in your website’s source.

Frequently asked questions

Does “Looks indexable” mean Google has indexed my page?

No. It means this check did not find a blocking noindex directive and the response status looked successful. Search engines make their own crawling and indexing decisions.

Does this replace the SERP Preview?

No. This tool reads tags from a live page. The SERP Preview lets you enter title and description text to preview their approximate appearance and pixel width in search results.

Why can the checker fail to read a page?

A website may block automated requests, require a login, return a non-HTML response, or take too long to respond. This checker does not access private pages.

How much of the page is read?

The checker reads up to 512 KB of the final HTML response. Very large pages may be truncated, so a tag near the end might not appear in the results.

Is the page HTML stored?

The URL is sent to ihatecalc’s Cloudflare endpoint, which fetches up to 512 KB for analysis in memory. The tool does not save the fetched page or its results. See our Privacy Policy.
