About this Sort Lines tool
Sort a list of lines alphabetically (A to Z or Z to A) or numerically. It is handy for organising lists, names, keywords and numbers copied from spreadsheets or documents.
How to use it
- Paste your lines, one per line.
- Choose alphabetical or numeric, and ascending or descending.
- Copy the sorted list.

Why does numeric sorting differ from alphabetical?
Alphabetical sorting puts 10 before 2, because it compares character by character. Numeric sorting compares values.
Does it ignore uppercase and lowercase?
Check the tool option. Many sorters treat uppercase and lowercase differently unless told to ignore case.
Can I remove duplicates as well?
Yes, run the sorted list through the Remove Duplicate Lines tool.
