Timesheet & Hourly Pay Calculator with Overtime

Shifts that end after midnight are counted automatically. Break time is unpaid and is deducted from the shift.

How the timesheet calculator works

For each day, enter the start time, end time and unpaid break. The calculator works out the hours worked, then splits them into regular and overtime hours. Overtime can start after a set number of hours per day, after a set number of hours per week, or both. Overtime hours are paid at the hourly rate multiplied by the multiplier you enter.

Formulas

Hours = (end − start − break) ÷ 60, adding 24 hours if the shift ends after midnight.

Daily overtime = hours above the daily threshold. If a weekly threshold is set, regular hours above it also become overtime, taken from the last days of the week so hours are not counted twice.

Pay = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × multiplier.

Worked example

Rate ₹300 per hour, overtime after 8 hours per day at 1.5×. Monday to Thursday you work 8 hours (9:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute break). On Friday you work 9:00 to 19:30 with a 30-minute break, which is 10 hours, so 2 hours are overtime.

Regular hours are 40 and overtime is 2 hours. Regular pay is 40 × ₹300 = ₹12,000, overtime pay is 2 × ₹300 × 1.5 = ₹900, and the total is ₹12,900.

Frequently asked questions

What overtime rate should I use?

Use the rate in your contract or the law that applies to you. In India the Factories Act generally requires overtime to be paid at twice the ordinary rate for covered factory workers, while other establishments follow state rules or their contract. In some countries 1.5× is common.

Are breaks paid?

This calculator treats breaks as unpaid and deducts them. Enter 0 if your breaks are paid.

How do night shifts work?

If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the shift ends the next day and counts the hours across midnight.

Can I use it for a weekly or monthly total?

It calculates one week at a time. For a month, run each week and add the results. You can print each week with the Print button.

Does it include tax or deductions?

No. It shows gross pay before any tax, PF or other deductions.
