Salary Calculator – CTC to In-Hand Salary (India)

Simplified estimate for India (FY 2025-26 style). Adjust for your actual structure.

What is Salary?

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount your employer spends on you in a year. Your in-hand salary is lower, because CTC includes employer contributions such as provident fund and gratuity, and your take-home is reduced by deductions like employee PF, professional tax and income tax. This calculator gives an approximate estimate.

Formula

Approximate monthly in-hand = (CTC − Employer PF − Gratuity − Employee PF − Taxes and other deductions) ÷ 12. The structure varies between employers.

Worked example

Illustrative example for a CTC of ₹12,00,000: basic at 40% is ₹4,80,000. Employer PF at 12% of basic is ₹57,600, gratuity at about 4.81% of basic is about ₹23,088, and employee PF is another ₹57,600. Before income tax, the in-hand is about ₹88,476 per month. Income tax will reduce this further and depends on the regime you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my in-hand salary lower than CTC ÷ 12?

Employer PF, gratuity, insurance and other benefits are part of CTC but are not paid out monthly, and deductions and taxes also apply.

Does this include income tax?

This is an approximation. Your actual tax depends on your regime, deductions and other income.

What is the basic salary share of CTC?

Employers commonly set basic at 40% to 50% of CTC, but it varies.

Which figure should I check on my offer letter?

Look at the breakdown of fixed pay, variable pay, PF and benefits, not just the headline CTC.
