JSON Formatter & Validator
About this JSON Formatter & Validator tool
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the standard text format for APIs and config files. A JSON formatter adds indentation and line breaks so the data is easy to read, and a validator tells you if the syntax is wrong, for example a missing comma or quote. You can also minify JSON to remove whitespace and make it smaller.
How to use it
- Paste your JSON into the input box.
- Click Format to beautify it, Minify to compress it, or Validate to check the syntax.
- Copy the result.
Example
{"name":"Asha","age":30,"skills":["js","python"]}
Formatted with 2-space indentation, this becomes one key per line, with the skills array expanded, so nested data is easy to scan.
Frequently asked questions
Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs in your browser, so the data you paste stays on your device.
Why does my JSON fail validation?
Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, unquoted keys, and comments, none of which are allowed in standard JSON.
What is the difference between format and minify?
Formatting adds whitespace for readability. Minifying removes it to reduce size, for example before sending it over a network.
