Markdown to HTML Converter with Live Preview
Raw HTML typed into the Markdown is shown as text, not run, and links using javascript: or other unsafe schemes are replaced, so the preview is safe to paste anything into.
What does this converter do?
Markdown is a plain-text way of writing headings, lists, links and code that can be turned into HTML. This tool converts your Markdown into HTML as you type, shows a live preview, and gives you the HTML to copy into a web page, a CMS or an email template.
Supported syntax
# Heading 1 ## Heading 2 ### Heading 3
**bold** *italic* ~~strikethrough~~ `inline code`
[link text](https://example.com)

Example
This Markdown:
# Title
Some **bold** text and a [link](https://example.com).

becomes:
<h1>Title</h1>
<p>Some <strong>bold</strong> text and a <a href="https://example.com">link</a>.</p>

<li>two</li>
</ul>
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to paste untrusted Markdown?
Yes. Any HTML you type is shown as plain text instead of being run, and links that use javascript: or other unsafe schemes are replaced with #, so the preview cannot run scripts.
Can I use raw HTML inside the Markdown?
Not here. It is escaped on purpose. If you need custom HTML, add it to the converted output afterwards.
Which Markdown flavour is this?
It follows the common basics of CommonMark plus GitHub-style tables and strikethrough. Rare features such as footnotes, task lists and definition lists are not included.
Why does my list or table look wrong?
Lists need a space after the marker ("- item"), nested items need at least two spaces of indent, and a table needs a separator line of dashes under the header row.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
