NPS Calculator – National Pension System
What is NPS?
The National Pension System (NPS) is a market-linked retirement scheme regulated by PFRDA. Your contributions are invested in equity, corporate bonds and government securities, and at retirement a part of the corpus must be used to buy an annuity that pays a pension, with the rest available as a lump sum. Rules and percentages are updated from time to time, so check current PFRDA guidelines.
Formula
Corpus = P × [((1 + i)n − 1) ÷ i], where P is the monthly contribution, i is the monthly return and n is the number of months.
Worked example
You contribute ₹5,000 per month for 30 years and assume a 10% annual return for illustration. You contribute ₹18,00,000 in total and the corpus is about ₹1,13,02,440. Actual returns are market-linked and can be higher or lower.
