UTM Link Builder – Campaign URL Builder

* Required. Source, medium and campaign are the three parameters Google Analytics needs to group traffic properly.

What is a UTM link?

A UTM link is an ordinary web address with a few extra tags added to the end. When someone clicks it, analytics tools such as Google Analytics read the tags and record where the visit came from: which source (a newsletter, Instagram), which medium (email, social, paid) and which campaign. Without them, many visits just show up as direct traffic.

How to use this builder

  1. Paste the page address you want people to land on.
  2. Fill in the source, medium and campaign name. Term and content are optional.
  3. Press Build link, copy it and use it in your email, post or ad.

The five parameters

utm_source where the visit comes from newsletter, instagram
utm_medium the kind of channel email, social, cpc
utm_campaign the campaign or promotion diwali_offer
utm_term the keyword (paid search) sip calculator
utm_content which link or ad was clicked header_button

Example

The page https://example.com/sip-calculator with source newsletter, medium email and campaign diwali_offer becomes:

https://example.com/sip-calculator?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=diwali_offer

Frequently asked questions

Should I use UTM links on links inside my own site?

No. A UTM link starts a new session in Analytics and overwrites the real source of the visit. Use them only on links that bring people from outside.

Are UTM values case-sensitive?

Yes in Analytics, so Email and email show up as two separate rows. Pick lowercase and stay consistent.

Will UTM tags change my SEO?

No, they do not affect rankings. If the same page can be reached with and without tags, a canonical tag on the page tells search engines which version to count.

What happens to a URL that already has parameters or a #section?

Existing parameters are kept, any older UTM tags are replaced, and the #section part stays at the end.

Is my link uploaded?

No. The link is built in your browser.
