PPF Calculator – Public Provident Fund Maturity

What is PPF?

The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a government-backed long-term savings scheme in India with a 15-year lock-in that can be extended in blocks of five years. The interest rate is set by the government and reviewed periodically, so use this calculator for estimates and check the current rate.

Formula

With yearly deposits made at the start of the year: Maturity = P × [((1 + r)n − 1) ÷ r] × (1 + r), where P is the yearly deposit, r is the annual rate and n is the number of years.

Worked example

Deposit ₹1,50,000 every year for 15 years, assuming a rate of 7.1% for illustration. Total deposits are ₹22,50,000 and the maturity is about ₹40,68,209. The actual figure will differ as rates change.
