UUID Generator (Version 4)
About this UUID Generator tool
A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit value used to label records, files and sessions without a central authority. Version 4 UUIDs are generated from random numbers and are written as 32 hexadecimal characters in five groups, for example 8-4-4-4-12. The chance of generating the same UUID twice is extremely small in practice.
How to use it
- Choose how many UUIDs you need.

Frequently asked questions
Are UUIDs really unique?
Not mathematically guaranteed, but collisions with random v4 UUIDs are so unlikely that they are treated as unique in practice.
Are UUIDs the same as GUIDs?
GUID is the term used in Microsoft environments for the same kind of identifier.
Are UUIDs secure tokens?
They are fine as identifiers, but for secrets such as session tokens or passwords use a cryptographically secure generator designed for that purpose.
