Silver SIP Calculator – Monthly Silver Investment Returns

Silver is usually quoted per kilogram in India. Divide the per-kg price by 1,000 to get the price per gram for the optional field.

What is a silver SIP?

A silver SIP means buying a fixed amount of silver every month. It can be done through silver ETFs bought with a demat account, silver funds that accept SIPs, or other platforms that let you buy silver regularly. This calculator estimates what your monthly investment could grow to at the yearly price growth you assume, and how many grams you could hold if you enter today's price.

How the calculation works

Each month your investment, after any charges, buys silver at that month's price. Prices are assumed to rise by the yearly rate you enter, spread evenly across the months. The estimated value is grams held multiplied by the final price. The optional price per gram only affects the gram figures.

Worked example

You invest ₹3,000 a month for 5 years and assume silver rises 10% a year from a round example price of ₹150 per gram (not today's rate). You invest ₹1,80,000 and the estimated value is about ₹2,34,247. That is about 949 grams bought at an average of about ₹190 per gram, with the price after 5 years about ₹247 per gram.

Frequently asked questions

Is silver riskier than gold?

Silver prices usually swing more than gold because they also depend on industrial demand. That means bigger gains and bigger falls are both possible, so test low and negative growth too.

How do I start a silver SIP?

Common options are silver ETFs through a demat account and silver funds that offer SIPs. Check each option's expense ratio, any tracking difference and minimum amounts before you invest.

What growth rate should I enter?

There is no reliable figure. Use a modest number, then try zero and a negative number to see how a weak period would affect you.

How do I convert a per-kg silver price to per gram?

Divide by 1,000. A price of ₹1,50,000 per kg is ₹150 per gram.

Are there taxes on silver gains?

Gains are generally taxable, and the rules depend on the instrument and holding period. Check the current rules or ask a tax professional.
